Honored to Grow the Game: Supporting Harlem Lacrosse with My Connecticut College Teammates
Lacrosse has always been more than a sport to me. It has been a bridge to lifelong friendships, opportunity, and purpose. That is why I am so honored to continue growing the game beyond my work with Recruited To Play™ by joining my Connecticut College teammates in support of Harlem Lacrosse and the New Balance Foundation.
Recently, two Harlem Lacrosse high school programs, Harlem Lacrosse NY and Harlem Lacrosse Boston, participated in a joint clinic with Connecticut College Men's Lacrosse and it quickly became one of the most meaningful days of our season. We ran position-specific sessions, including fast-paced offensive and defensive reps, small-sided competition, and a dedicated faceoff period where players learned technique, timing, and situational strategy. The energy was incredible. After the on-field work, we shared lunch together, spent time in team building activities, and finished the afternoon with tug of war and a competitive football game. It was the perfect mix of learning, competition, and genuine connection through the sport we all care about.
About Harlem Lacrosse
Harlem Lacrosse is a school-based nonprofit that changes the life trajectories of youth through daily academic support, mentoring, leadership training, and lacrosse instruction. Their mission is to provide opportunities, relationships, and experiences that put young people on a path to success as students, athletes, and citizens.
Each Harlem Lacrosse Program Director works directly in schools, offering wrap-around support that builds confidence and helps students reach their full potential. Their college-going culture begins early, giving kids real exposure to higher education through campus visits, mentorship, and sports.
Why This Work Matters
Seeing firsthand the joy and determination of these student-athletes reminded me that lacrosse is a tool for empowerment. It builds teamwork, confidence, and perseverance, which last long after the game ends. For me and my teammates, it was a powerful reminder that our responsibility as athletes extends far beyond the field.
The Connection to Recruited To Play™
Through experiences like this, I have learned that access and guidance can change everything. Many young athletes have the drive to compete at the next level but lack the roadmap or connections to get there. That understanding helped shape the foundation of Recruited To Play™, a platform dedicated to helping families navigate the complex world of college recruiting with clarity and confidence.
Our mission has always been to make college recruiting more accessible, transparent, and values driven. Working alongside organizations like Harlem Lacrosse and partners like the New Balance Foundation strengthens that mission. It connects what we teach through our lacrosse recruiting services to a much bigger purpose. We want to help young athletes use the sport as a pathway to education and opportunity.
Looking Ahead
I am incredibly proud to stand with my college teammates and these impressive young players as we continue to grow the game together. Supporting Harlem Lacrosse means investing in future leaders both on and off the field.
